It is a freemium program that is available for PC and Mac. AirDroid allows you to regain remote access to your phone’s files, incoming calls and content from your computer. AirDroid is another nifty alternative, especially if you are looking for synchronization software for an Android device that isn’t necessarily a Samsung model. The self-styled 'iTunes for Android' it will collate your podcasts, song library and radio stations on multiple devices. If you are looking for software to manage your music between devices, then DoubleTwist is a great program. Samsung Kies doesn’t dominate the market space, not by any means. Note that the Kies program may lag on the more recent versions of Samsung models. You can sync up most Samsung smartphones or tablets to your PC, but the latest versions of the Samsung Galaxy cannot run on Kies. For the central processing unit, Samsung recommends you have Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or above, at least 1 GB of RAM and you should clear up 500 MB of space on your hard drive. In order to use Samsung Kies, you will need a PC with Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. It is still some facelift away from competing with Apple and iTunes. Also, be aware that even the latest version of Samsung Kies can be frustratingly slow at times and can take a while to recognize linked devices. A glaring fault is of course that Kies will only function on Samsung devices, so if you use any other Android mobile, tablet or notebook then it is no use to you. Another poor feature is that only content that has already been stored in your internal memory will be included in the transfer to your PC. This is a major drawback for holders of multiple Samsung models of various ages. If your two devices are operating different versions (for example you have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and you wanted to sync it up with your Note 3). Samsung Kies does not support different versions of Android OS simultaneously. On to the negative aspects of the program. And the best gleaming positive feature: it is 100% free! Also, being the official Samsung software developed by the global multimedia giants, you can trust it to be safe and malware free. Samsung Kies can easily control data in your library. The one-click backup and restore is highly useful, and it supports S Memo and S Planner updates. A handy alternative if you have a faulty port or dodgy connection. One the plus side, Samsung Kies can be launched both from a USB cable and wireless connection. Let’s delve into the Pros and Cons of this seemingly efficient and harmless tool. The more recent Kies 3.0 will run on Samsung devices using Android 4.3 and later. The former works with Samsung Galaxy and Note devices that are operating with Android 4.3 systems or earlier. If you are considering Samsung Kies, bear in mind that there are two versions of the software: Kies 2.6 and Kies 3.0. Note that due to technical limitations per country, it will need to have been released in your country first. When you link up your device, you will automatically get notified about the latest firmware available for your specific model. This last point is particularly handy your smartphone will run at its best with all the latest updates. It helps of course if you also have a Samsung mobile or other device! Samsung Kies will then maintain data backups and notify you of firmware updates for Samsung products. You simply install the software on your Windows computer. Downloading Samsung Kies is very straightforward. Initially through a USB cable, but now all you need is a decent broadband connection to start the stream of data. Samsung Kies was released in 2016 and is considered one of the major game-changers in smooth synchronization between PC and mobile, and easy file transfer. 1/2/2024 0 Comments Filipino debutanteFamily and friends had traveled from all over the world to witness this special moment for Katrina’s family, you cannot not believe this is a big deal to the family’s culture and traditions, which we are so happy we got to be a party of these memories. It was our first time experiencing a Debut, so every part of the program was fresh and new to both of us! The Debut program was filled with fun and heart warming activities from Hot Potato to 18th Roses Dance to the 18 Candles Speech. We were invited back in July to document Katrina’s 18th birthday celebration alongside her extended family and friends, and we feel so very honored the family loved our photographic style enough to want us back. In June, we had the pleasure to photograph a family of 4, commemorating the family’s high school graduate. Whether they choose to enter the workforce or head to college for further education, at 18, it marks the beginning of adulthood and independence. To me, 18th sounds like a major milestone in teens, as it is the typical age one graduates from high school and enters a new chapter in life. In the Filipino tradition, the Debut is a birthday celebration for a girl turning 18. Hopefully one of these days, we will get to participate and photograph one! In the Latino culture, Quinceañera is a celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday, which I haven’t personally experienced, but by the look of it all, it is quite like a Princess ball. If you were to ask me, in America, turning 21 is quite a big deal, as it is the legal drinking age, and as you can probably guess what would be the focus of the 21st birthday celebration – alcohol. Every culture and religion celebrates major birthdays differently. 1/2/2024 0 Comments Terror bird sketchThey are widely utilized both well trained and not by the wealthy as effective guarding mechanisms.Kelenken - Prehistoric 'Terror Bird' Stock Illustration by AlienCat 3 / 1,050 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Clip Art by MIRO3D 0 / 57 Terror bird Phorusrhacos Stock Illustration by MIRO3D 0 / 0 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Clipart by MIRO3D 0 / 50 Terror Bird Kelenken Clipart by MIRO3D 0 / 53 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Clipart by MIRO3D 0 / 55 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Drawings by MIRO3D 0 / 81 Terror Bird Kelenken Stock Illustration by MIRO3D 0 / 32 Talking Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 4 Smiling Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustrations by cthoman 0 / 2 Terror Bird Kelenken Stock Illustrations by MIRO3D 0 / 26 Terror Bird Kelenken Stock Illustration by MIRO3D 0 / 18 Dreaming Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 1 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Clipart by MIRO3D 0 / 49 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Clip Art by MIRO3D 0 / 48 Sad Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 3 Terror Bird Kelenken Stock Illustrations by MIRO3D 0 / 21 Terror Bird Kelenken Stock Illustration by MIRO3D 0 / 25 Terror Bird Phorusrhacos Stock Illustration by MIRO3D 0 / 43 Cartoon terror bird on white background Drawing by Tigatelu 0 / 2 Scared Cartoon Terror Bird Drawing by cthoman 0 / 4 Full moon Clip Art by johnnorth 14 / 392 Sad Cartoon Terror Bird Drawings by cthoman 0 / 5 Angry Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 2 Scared Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustrations by cthoman 0 / 2 Serious Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 4 Cartoon Terror Bird in Love Clipart by cthoman 0 / 4 Talking Cartoon Terror Bird Drawings by cthoman 0 / 7 Drunk Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 8 Grunge bird feathers silhouette Drawings by lhfgraphics 21 / 3,565 Angry Cartoon Terror Bird Drawing by cthoman 0 / 6 Cartoon Terror Bird Sign Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 7 Smiling Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 0 Cartoon Terror Bird Sign Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 4 Drunk Cartoon Terror Bird Drawings by cthoman 0 / 18 Cartoon Terror Bird in Love Drawings by cthoman 0 / 1 Dreaming Cartoon Terror Bird Drawings by cthoman 0 / 4 Serious Cartoon Terror Bird Stock Illustration by cthoman 0 / 1 Terror Bird Kelenken and Tourist Stock Illustrations by MIRO3D 0 / 11 Crow, raven, and feather vector Drawings by lhfgraphics 24 / 3,516 Fororakos flightless terror bird, black silhouette icon, flat vector illustration isolated on white background. It doesn't mean I think they're going to win 'em all. It doesn’t mean the Bengals are immune to criticism henceforth. Bengaldom is a deserted island, never to be inhabited again as long as Burrow is in the building. The Bengals sent their toughest critics a message that day: They are not a fluke. They won in a place where few do, in the snow, against a team that’s been talked about in recent years as a Super Bowl contender. It was perhaps the most impressive win amid the Bengals’ magical two-year run. The Bengals absolutely owned the Bills from start to finish in their house. My perspective on the Bengals changed last week in suburban Buffalo. Still, some in the neutral observer and punditry class keep wondering when the Bengals will return to Bengaldom. Chloride ions are the most abundant ions that dissolve in the ocean. Chlorine reacts with metals to produce salts called chlorides. Since the bond that forms between the two chlorine atoms is weak, the Cl 2 molecule is very reactive. At room temperature it appears as a light green gas. Chlorine exhibits multiple oxidation states, such as -1, +1, +3, +5, and +7. In its elemental state, it forms the diatomic molecule Cl 2. Chlorine was discovered in 1774 by extracting it from hydrochloric acid. There are many uses for fluorine, which will be discussed later.Ĭhlorine - Chlorine has the atomic number 17 and the chemical symbol Cl. For example, fluorine can react with the noble gas xenon and form the strong oxidizing agent Xenon Difluoride (XeF 2 ). In addition, fluorine produces very powerful oxidants. Although fluorine is highly electronegative, its electronegativity does not determine its acidity HF is a weak acid due to the fact that the fluoride ion is basic (pH>7). In H 2O solution, hydrofluoric acid (HF) is a weak acid. Fluorine is extremely reactive and reacts directly with all elements except helium (He), neon (Ne) and argon (Ar). Its oxidation state is always -1 except in its elemental, diatomic state (in which its oxidation state is zero). Fluorine also has a relatively small atomic radius. It appears as a pale yellow gas at room temperature. Fluorine is the most electronegative element in the periodic table. Fluorine exists as a diatomic molecule in its free state (F 2) and is the most abundant halogen found in the Earth's crust. Elemental fluorine was first discovered in 1886 by isolating it from hydrofluoric acid. Lastly, the halogens are also relevant in daily life, whether it be the fluoride that goes into toothpaste, the chlorine that disinfects drinking water, or the iodine that facilitates the production of thyroid hormones in one's body.įluorine - Fluorine has an atomic number of 9 and is denoted by the symbol F. Halite is the mineral name for rock salt, a natural mineral consisting essentially of sodium chloride (NaCl). Together these words combine to mean "salt former", referencing the fact that halogens form salts when they react with metals. The name "halogen" is derived from the Greek roots hal- ("salt") and -gen ("to form"). Halogen elements can cross-link to form diatomic molecules with polar covalent single bonds.Ĭhlorine (Cl 2) was the first halogen to be discovered in 1774, followed by iodine (I 2), bromine (Br 2), fluorine (F 2), and astatine (At, discovered last in 1940). When a halogen atom is substituted for a covalently-bonded hydrogen atom in an organic compound, the prefix halo- can be used in a general sense, or the prefixes fluoro-, chloro-, bromo-, or iodo- can be used for specific halogen substitutions. When in the -1 oxidation state, with carbon or nitrogen in organic compounds, the halogens often form single bonds. Therefore, most of the chemical reactions that involve halogens are oxidation-reduction reactions in aqueous solution. Replacing the -ine ending with an -ide ending indicates the presence of halide anions for example, Cl - is named "chloride." In addition, halogens act as oxidizing agents-they exhibit the property to oxidize metals. In these compounds, halogens are present as halide anions with charge of -1 (e.g., Cl -, Br -, etc.). All halogens form Group 1 salts with similar properties. As a general rule, fluorine is the most reactive halogen and astatine is the least reactive. However, halogens readily combine with most elements and are never seen uncombined in nature. The bonds in these diatomic molecules are non-polar covalent single bonds. Halogens form diatomic molecules (of the form X 2, where X denotes a halogen atom) in their elemental states. 1/1/2024 0 Comments Strike and reel photosReel News went to Paris and found the opposite is true a movement rapidly shifting to the left, with demands for reducing the inequality between rich and poor, defending public services, real solutions to climate change and more decision making for the people rather than politicians. The last writers’ strike in 20 cost the California economy an estimated $2.1 billion. The WGA walkout is hitting caterers, prop suppliers and other small businesses that generate a large portion of their income from Hollywood productions. The studios and the WGA have not held talks since the writers’ strike began on May 2. With the writers, the AMPTP said it had offered “generous” pay increases but could not agree to all of the writers’ demands. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which negotiates on behalf of the studios, had no comment on the ongoing talks with SAG-AFTRA. “I think we need the actors to go on strike so that it all could get worked out,” filmmaker and actor Judd Apatow told Reuters. SAG-AFTRA already voted to give its leaders the authority to call a work stoppage if talks break down before their contract expires on Friday night. “I’m on the edge of my seat hoping that SAG will follow suit and stand up in support of the writers, and just really hope we can get this sorted,” Waller-Bridge said in an interview with Reuters at an “Indiana Jones” premiere in London. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, star of the new “Indiana Jones” movie, noted that she was already on strike as a member of the WGA. Some actors have spoken publicly of their support of a walkout. Leaders of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA say the entertainment industry has changed dramatically with the rise of streaming television and the emergence of new technology such as generative AI, which they fear could be used to write scripts or create digital actors. The walkout by 11,500 writers has shut down a wide swath of TV production and delayed the filming of movies including Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” and “Blade.” Any ongoing filming would have to halt if actors also strike. The letter came after union negotiators issued a video saying their talks had been “extremely productive,” a possible sign that a deal was within reach.Ī strike by SAG-AFTRA, which represents 160,000 actors, would turn up the heat on Hollywood studios already grappling with a nearly two-month work stoppage by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). 1/1/2024 0 Comments Shirley temple black drinkTemple was appointed ambassador to Ghana in 1974. In 1967, she ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Public ServiceĪs Temple's entertainment work petered out, she refocused her efforts on a career in public service. During the 1950s and early '60s, she made scattered appearances on the small screen, but her career as a popular film star had ended at an earlier age than most entertainers' had begun. Though the film received critical praise, audiences struggled to accept that their "Little Miss Miracle" was growing up.įollowing her 1948 appearance opposite John Wayne in Fort Apache, Temple found it increasingly difficult to land major roles. At age 19, she co-starred as Susan Turner in The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer with Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. As an adolescent, she appeared in The Blue Bird (1940), which performed poorly at the box office. When Temple began to mature, her popularity with audiences waned. Roosevelt called Temple "Little Miss Miracle" for raising the public's morale during times of economic hardship, even going so far as to say, "As long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right." Temple's song-and-dance routine to the tune "On the Good Ship Lollipop" in 1934's Bright Eyes earned her a special Academy Award, for "Outstanding Personality of 1934." By 1940, Temple had 43 films under her belt. The young actress, singer and dancer with the bouncing golden corkscrew curls and infectious optimism proved to be an overnight sensation and a top earner for the studio. (When off-set, she attended the Westlake School for Girls.) With Fox, Temple made an additional eight films, including the smash hit Little Miss Marker. When the budding actress was 6 years old, she appeared in her first Hollywood feature film, Carolina. The exposure that "Baby Burlesques" afforded Temple led her to a contract with the Fox Film Corporation. Her father became her agent and financial adviser. When Temple was just 3 years old, she landed a contract with Educational Pictures, making her acting debut in a string of low-budget movies dubbed "Baby Burlesques." Temple's mother capitalized on the toddler's natural flair for dancing by enrolling her in dance classes at the age of 3 1/2. Temple was born to a banker and a housewife with two older children, on April 23, 1928, in Santa Monica, California. She died on February 10, 2014, at age 85, in California. Temple took on some acting roles as an adult before entering politics, becoming a U.S. When her rendition of the song "On a Good Ship Lollipop" became famous in the 1930s, she earned a special Academy Award. Shirley Temple was a leading child film actress during the Great Depression, starring in works like Bright Eyes and Captain January. |
